Shanghai Portrait

LazySusan Productions, an independent film company here in Shanghai, recently organized the Shanghai Portraits Project, in which four directors each produced a short film. The requirements were that the film should be in documentary format, under four minutes long and under 3,000 RMB (approx. $450) in budget.

Here's a link to the first one posted on the CreativeHunt, by Italian filmmaker Gianpaolo Lupori. I think you'll really be impressed by the level of cinematography, especially given the budget.

In Shanghai, when you get into a taxi, usually you tell the driver the intersection between two streets rather than telling him an address. Wulumuqi lu and Anfu lu. Hengshan lu and Gao'an lu. Yongjia lu and Anting lu. Watch closely to the scene at 3:17 and you'll see my corner, the one that I always tell to taxi drivers. There are also some great street scapes for those of you back at home who'd like to get a view of what nighttime in Shanghai looks like.
